Just got in this 1859 Indian cent , I bough it because I though it was a Snow 3 due to the "extra" material on the bottom of the one, but now I am not so sure. Any suggestions on how to clean that area up without "cleaning it up" ?

I'm unsure because the bisecting vertical damage through the '1'.

Try a good acetone soak and then a Q-tip or wood toothpick to loosen buildup in this area.

I do not believe this is the S-3 Variety. The date position looks to be in a different spot. Here is one of my examples. The RPD is very bold and you would see the outline below the 1 very easily.
