I am trying to see if/which VAM this Morgan is. I believe the leaves have been re-engraved above the one similar to VAM 1-E. http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...881-S_VAM-1E Mine does not have the die scratches listed near the curl and the leaf looks different near the stem as if it has been engraved there as well, but not sure. It has a die gouge under the second 8 and a spike inside the top left loop of first 8. I thought the spike was from a hit but after looking closer I believe it's a small die gouge listed as a spike on other VAMs. Also your thought on the arrow shafts on reverse please, they look doubled or tripled slightly. Thanks for any assistance, I just cannot pin it down.
These are the three listed on PCGS Coinfacts for the 1881S. All three are different in those leaf areas.
Ok I believe this is VAM 39. I compared MM with image overlay and it seems to be correct. Its alot of fun trying to figure these VAMs out even if most are not that sought after.
