I haven't handled this coin before...so any thoughts, and opinions would be appreciated. It weighs 27.27, pings right, and feels right... It's priced at $60.

On authenticity, it looks OK to me.
It's a common type.
Maybe you could do better?

@tdz, the shops in Rome have a pricing structure that's pretty agreeable for the patient... After 60 days - on Aug. 21 - the price of this coin will drop by 20-50%, so this is the type of coin I prefer to wait until next month to see . . . I'd be more comfortable in the 40 euro range.

These madonna and child types were commonly thought to bring good luck and this one looks like it was in someone's pocket for fifty plus years.

Frequently restruck/cast date and type - for jewelry/medallic purposes, as alluded to above. Many different iterations are found... many of them were produced by Lauer (Google Lauer restriker taler or something similar). Similar idea with the 1721 Hall, Austria taler.

The piece shown appears to one of these (cast) replicas.

@realeswatcher... I'm not finding this particular coin in restrike. I'm finding a lot of the Maria Teresa, of course, but not this one. Would they be restuck with such wear? I didn't get the impression it was cast when holding the coin in hand.
