Also, I can't see the 3 at all, as mentioned by you.
The idea that it could be a 3 was suggested by comparison to Zeno 65781 and Zeno 135298, which have matching 5 shapes and are identified as 753 (with a stubby barely-connected 3). I agree that the extra dot looks too disconnected from the 2, though.

I do like the idea of eventually posting it on Zeno; if/when I get back to Moscow and make some better photos of the coins left there, I'll try to look into that possibility. For now the photo is too bad to work with.

I'd love to see other people's 752/1351 coins, but yeah, I have to agree, this date is definite enough to count. We've seen worse.

Yes, yours' fills the 1351 spot nicely @j1m. I'll add mine also to give it company .
I'm out until 1345.

...I'm failing to see what makes this one a 2 and your previous coin a 3; the final digits look like the same 1-and-disconnected-overline shape to me. Have you posted that one on Zeno yet?

(Mine looks a lot more definite though! So we're waiting for 1350 now... which was a gap last time I checked. Hey, maybe your coin turns out to be 751 and fills that gap.)

Last query first, no I haven't put this on Zeno, didn't feel the need. I purchased it on ebay (sold as a 752) in 2023. It was my first Juchid coin. I couldn't read these dates at that time anyway, and took it's attributes at face value.
I'm not sure why you can't make out the 2. It rises vertical, then veers to the right and terminates like the letter r.
What makes the previous one a 3 (for me anyway) is the experienced opinion of the Zeno moderator. Once he pointed out it was a 3 (and like you I really struggled with it at first), I can see the 2 is structured in the same way, but it terminates shorter. Perhaps an idiosyncrasy specific to that mint or the die engraver as a wild guess.
I do however take your point about it being perhaps a 1 (with an unknown blob attached!), which I hadn't considered.
If I can find time today, I'll pull the coin from it's 2x2 and make a clearer pic, and put it onto Zeno and see what is said.
I'll feel silly if it is a 1, but that may be a bonus as 1350 may yet prove to be a hold point.
If nothing else, it is an interesting discussion!

Fabulous thread. Thank you.

Glad you're enjoying it @Silverskunk. Join in the fun if you're able, or sit back and watch the show. At this stage of the game, things are fast and furious!...(sarcasm ).
We need to get past a few speed bumps, but we're hoping to eventually get to the 13th century.
Cheers
Grant
