Hi - new here and researching coins. I have various loose coins from Canada, Ireland, England, Japan which seem to be only worth a few dollars.

I started a chart of framed coins prior to my upcoming visit with reputable coin man in area and have been researching value of framed sets to no avail.

My question is this:
I have 3 framed sets from my dad, pictures enclosed. The $2 one I could see a racing enthusiast maybe being into, but the two others I am wondering if I should remove from frame so I can see the back of coins. The frame backs have staples. They all appear to have some water damage on mats. What is the general consensus - leave as is or pop the coins out? Appreciate advice. New to this but don't want to be ripped off. Thank you so much!

Welcome to CCF!

You could check eBay listings current and sold, to see what they are going for. I don't think a lot though. I've seen sets like these at estate sales. If the coins are uncirculated or a scarce date/mint mark they may be worth more taking out and selling individually. $2 bills are rather common unless it's old, low mintage year, mint error or something unusual. You could also take them to a local coin store, get their opinion. If you want to sell them do some checking first so you get a fair price.

The United States Twentieth Century Coin set may have a Morgan and Peace dollar which are worth some cash, but the pics are so blurred I can't tell for sure.

If you can take clear close up pics so others can see the condition, dates, you may get more informed info.

Would you recommend removing the coins so I can see both sides of the coin?

I appreciate the advice.

You could get albums that show both sides...if you have the intention of filling up the missing coins. You could also leave them as is...since they are from your Dad...I would pick the latter.

You have to appreciate the sentimental value.

The coins look common and likely circulated. I'd leave them in the frame as a set IMO. Hang them on a wall to enjoy.

Barber Half

Thanks to all for the advice - not looking to keep necessarily, but don't want to be ripped off so researching. I'm keeping some coins that I'm more attached to, of course.

Have a great day everyone!
