This is a late die stage for this RPM so really only shows one of the south repunched mint marks. Bit it is still a fairly nice example of this one as there aren't many out there in MS. That said, I thinking it might go details-altered surfaces as looks a lot like it's been dipped. But I can't really tell for sure so probably send it in at some point and see what I get back.

Pretty coin! Thanks for sharing.

I've been wondering how long these older cent dies stayed in service. If that die was used so long that it had to have the MM repunched four times, I'm surprised the die didn't explode before the fourth punch was necessary. Or, was it someone who didn't like where a particular punch landed?

Thanks for a kind words! It's a better-looking RPM in the early die state but pretty happy to have one in this grade in any die state.

TB, Nice eye on that later die state RPM. Nice MS example.

As far as I understand the process for applying the MM, all punchings of the MM's (I wasn't there) would have been added at the same time. I don't believe the dies would have been removed from service and the MM "touched up" with an additional punch.

1922 No D Lincoln cent is the "poster child" to show that the mint didn't add MM's after a die was placed in production.
