Is this penny fake as the surface is looking strange knowing it's 3.0 gm.

It is not a fake CENT nor a Doubled Die
It is a copper cent that has been damaged,
possibly by a blowtorch.

Yes, post-strike damage--likely caused by a hobby-grade torch, or possibly a soak in acid. Not a mint error.

Note the metal distortion that the heat caused. Some hotter torches can even alter the surface of the coin even more:

The weight will be normal on these coins. It is not a mint error as it was alter post strike. Just a face value coin now. Spender
