I'm a new member here so I hope I'm posting in the right place. I found a 1979D penny that appears to have a fingerprint on the obverse. Is this an error worth anything?

Fingerprints are considered damage once they set in and can not be removed. The acids and oils in fingers get on the surface of a coin and if cleaned with acetone (PURE) carefully to remove them right away, if not they become a permanent fixture to the coin.

It lowers the value on a higher grade coin. So it is just a spender. (Not a mint error, but a circulated coin issue) These can't be removed as the salts from perspiration and oils affect the surface of the coins. Eventually the BU look goes away on a circulated coin
