Bought this from a dealer at an antique store who knew it was counterfeit several months ago and I did too. I just wanted a contemporary counterfeit Barber half to complement my 1929 C.C. Walker half. This particular specimen is probably made from lead or white metal.

Nice acquisition, mrwhatisit! I've got a few CC Walking Liberty halves, and they make an interesting accent to the collection.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

A fun addition to the black cabinet @mrw. What is the weight?

I find this sort of base metal alloy cast fake occasionally in dealers' 50 cent junk boxes. I have about five World coins of similar manufacture.

Not much interested to any more in fakes of this fabric to add further to my 'black' collection.
