Since we're not yet half way through 2023 I'm sure my goals will change several times before New Year's Eve. As far as going backwards I've reached a stopping point with at least two coins. I'm back to 2008 1 oz Silver Libertad BU but beyond that point the price goes up considerably so I'll stop there. I will continue to go forward each year. I'm back to the second year 1 oz Silver Krugerrand BU but the first year (2017) is very expensive due to low mintage so that slot will remain open. I have decided to expand my collection of Brilliant Uncirculated Franklin half dollars and attempt to get each of the three mints every year. I have all of the Denver years except 1950 and that's readily available. There are only five San Francisco years and I have two. The Philadelphia Mint produced the coin every year. I only have three of those years so I need to start there.

Time for an update!! Quote:1) Complete the 3 missing coins from my 7070 type set. This is really low priority. The 3 missing coins just don't excite me for what they cost. So it most likely won't even be looked at. 2) Complete the slabbed IHC set. Missing only 9. May get a few but I doubt I'll complete the set in 2023. No updates and nothing interesting. Quote: 3) Get any missing notes from my US currency type set. I have a few fractionals that I am interested in and maybe another large sized. This one I did pretty well, picked up a few large sized notes: Got the last (Justice) of the 3 types of hand signed fractionals. Quote: 4) Get the following from the US Mint: a) Women's quarter in Silver Proof b) Innovation Dollars Proof Set c) Get the Peace/Morgan proofs and reverse proofs. d) Get the Peace for 2023, Morgans are ? Only got the women's quarter in Silver. The Morgans and Peace are being shipped on July 13. Quote: 5) Add to my Portuguese Coin Type Set 6) Add to my Portuguese Currency Type Set. Sadly no new coins or notes from Portugal, although I have my eyes on 1 of the rare types. Not on my list, but I added a few coins to my stash

@Dearborn and @hfj, that's really impressive progress!
Here is where I stand:
1. Continue to add early dated/datable coins in the 1400s, and "decade coins" earlier... would be happy with 3 to 5. 1Q: Picked up a couple of Holland coins dateable to 1391 and 1393. 2Q: Picked up a Poland coin dateable to 1408, and a Sicily coin dateable to 1242
2. Continue to grow collection and knowledge of saints on medieval coins. 1Q:Picked up St. Lucy (Mantua), St. Wenceslas (Bohemia), St. Cyr (Pavia, Italy) and St. Catherine (Mantua). 2Q: Picked up St. Romualdus (19th c. Papal States), St. Lebuinus (11th c. Utrecht), St. Emidius (14th c. Ascoli Italy).
3. Continue work building Numista catalog in areas of interest/expertise. 1Q: Involved in a major restructuring of the medieval/early modern Countries sections of catalog But finding plenty of unlisted coins to add to the catalog along the way. 2Q: Created over 100 new listings, and am now at 1,060.

Thanks Tdz. You also seem to have increased your knowledge base on historical coinage quite a bit also.

Here is my update: Quote: ATB Silver Proof Sets Bought a 2015 and 2016 set online. Now hunting for a set from 2017. Quote: Kingdom of The Netherlands Type Set No progress. Still looking for a Willem I Gulden and Rijksdaalder in VF-XF condition, in addition to several Dutch East Indies coins from the mid-19th century. Quote: Set of Silver Ducats from The Dutch Republic The two coins I send to Great Collections were sold. Took a 50% loss. Moral of the Story: DO NOT buy ungraded Silver Ducats online. Quote: World Commemorative Coins of Composers This project goes well. Bought two coin folders featuring Haydn and Mozart during my trip to Vienna. In Munich I bought a 20 Euro coin folder commemorating Beethoven and a 20 Korun coin commemorating the Czech composer Jezek. Quote: International Birthyear Set Collection I now have 20+ sets. Got the set from Australia, Belgium, and Jamaica. Quote: Medals from Utrecht This is also slow going, but I was able to buy a 1948 City Medal featuring Saint Martin.

Quote: World Commemorative Coins of Composers These are really neat. I'm also a classical music aficionado so this stuff is right up my alley. I have an Austrian 2 Schilling silver coin from 1928 commemorating the 100th anniversary of the death of Franz Schubert, which is interesting because it's a circulating commemorative. I'm not sure if you have this coin but it should fit nicely in a collection of composer commemoratives.

Hi Arietta, lovely commemorative coin of Schubert you have. I have the same type. In fact, I pretty much have a complete collection of Austrian coins commemorating composers. The only coin I am missing is the 20 schilling Schubert, 1996.

Quote: I'm also a classical music aficionado Very cool, it's not often we meet another lover of the classics! I love Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, and the rest of the gang. But I collect them in old slate records that are played on my vintage hand cranked Victrola.

Quote: Very cool, it's not often we meet another lover of the classics! And in a coin forum, no less! Though I suppose it makes since as a lot of us probably have stuff that was circulating during the time of the old Masters.
