Oh, I'll have to read at some point - I thought quite a few of these had been appearing on Facebook. In hindsight, none were appearing 10 years ago when the whole coloured $2 coin thing started.

I would think that there would be a market out there for fake pad painted coins.
One of the most opportunistic examples I could think of would be the
2012 Remembrance Two Dollars pad printed onto a plain genuine coin.

sel_69I, here is a picture of a 'gold poppy'



As you can see the poppy is proud .
Here is a 'red poppy' with some paint missing.


There is no proud poppy on the coin at all , the paint is put on on top of the written words underneath.
