I have been trying to figure out how to create columns here. Straight vertical columns Like a list where the first column is left justified in a post and no matter each sequential item is long, the second Column will still be straight vertically.
I was told by someone here how to do it with it torn apart so I can see the syntax, but I cannot put it to work properly. Here is what I was told:
Before the two columns, I use the html tag "code" (encased in square bracklets). Then, the space in between the two columns is set by using one- or two-tabs characters "amparsand amparsand pound nine" (the sequence of characters, no spaces). Finally, the list is ended with the html tag "/code" (encased in square bracklets).
If someone can help me out, I would appreciate it. Perhaps someone could make a short list here, and have it present as it is intended on a post, but then just send me what you actually typed to create it in an email So I can compare the way to do it.
Any help? please?

You cannot use tabs. You have to use hard spaces. If you type it up in Notepad++ first, you can use convert the tabs to spaces: Edit > Blank Operations > TAB to Space This is how I do everything for Guess The Price.

Nss: did you go into my post and examine how I did it?
There are some hidden characters in between that make this work. (& & # 9 - 'no spaces') these pretend to be tabs and thus setting up straight columns

I still feel it is better to use hard spaces. Tab distance can vary and sometimes you end up with a line that gets out of sync when one of the filed contents is abnormally long or short.

Quote: I still feel it is better to use hard spaces. Well I DL'd notepad++ and it is a bit of a learning curve for me. I tried the tab to space thing - and I couldn't seem to get it to work. (but I'll keep trying)

I hope that once you get the hang of it you will wonder how you got along without it.
