An auction purchase from a few years ago. I think bidders did not see or recognise the repunching of the date.

High points on the tips of the feathers (obv.), have a minimal amount of wear, long since patinated over.

Looks very high end AU to me. Rims have a bit of contact. A couple of small nicks rev. Quite a lovely coin, cheek and fields look stunning.

Earlier die state -- left of forehead, die clash marks (from wreath) are still seen. The two die scratches left of the 2nd diamond are clearly visible, a die diagnostic marker.

In later states, the clash mark gets weaker, and a bifurcated die crack develops from the top of the right wreath that goes through the shield.

The RPD is one of the most dramatic in the series (along with others such as the 1864 L S-1, e.g.) and can be easily seen even in very low grades so I am really surprised this one flew under the radar.
