It's just a tool that perhaps gives you an unbiased perspective. Certainly I've seen graders worse than this app.

I ran an obviously damaged coin through the app and it gave a straight XF grade. Not great.. I also tried to trick it by using 2 sides from different coins and it did not seem to notice that it was 2 different coins.

Just curious, have you attempted to "trick" the algorithm by utilizing two different denominations, in attempts of passing it off as the same coin? Being that a Sacagawea dollar and a quarter are (similar in size), does the app have the capabilities to differentiate the coins?

It also missed mint mark on Buffalo nickel. Can you run a couple counterfeits and see how it does?

Saying only AU or MS doesn't seem very useful to me. Heck even I can grade that well. There's a huge difference between MS60 and MS65 for example, and if it can't distinguish then it has a long way to go. I'm curious if an AU58 coin fools it.

I think I'll stick to what I already know. Not a fan of unproven technology.

Apparently it doesn't handle weird very well... the only date is 2000 with a D mm. Came back 1992 which is odd. Seems like you can trip it up on purpose. Will need to see if it gets better over time. Having said that, the grade seems about right.

Looks like it missed the O mm but the grade seems correct. To me it doesn't seem to be a full dud and appears to have the potential to get better.

It seems that getting the date and mintmark right would be the easy part. I'm sure it will get better as the algorithm improves, but how would it be expected to learn if it doesn't get feedback on the grade from a TPG?

I thought I read that the mint mark had to be added by the user.

I tried it but gave up when it couldn't even get the date right on large coins.

I can't get the full screen because scrolling down takes away the pictures. But if you scroll down, the app asks you if you were satisfied with the result. If you answer no, then there are options to say what was wrong. So the app provides an easy to use avenue to teach the algorithm. But as with anything else if you put garbage in, it will spit garbage out.

At least it allows you to add your input if you don't agree.
