Hello,

So this is the only other semi key date I have found in Rome. This coin has certainly been polished.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

@ty, reverse is cleaned too. It's a shame, but it was harshly cleaned.

Thank you everyone! I think I underestimated semi-key dates a bit.

nice find smat45

its not too bad. it could be worse and if it didnt have those gashes on the chin it would be a decent coin albeit cleaned. I was not harshly cleaned as it looks like there is still luster around both sides

the coin still has a decent value. did you purchase it? if so how much did you get it for?

@pan... I did buy it. I do not know for certain the exact amount... I bundled it with a few other coins a few months ago. But I have not paid more than €35 for a Morgan in Italy. Despite a wide gap in the local understanding of u.s. coins values (a 21 Morgan was offered to me at €450 and... Get this ... A 64 KHD for €1500) I have a limit of €35 per coin. My average is likely around €25-28.

i found an ANACS graded AU50 (details cleaned) that looks awfully close to this one that sold for $147. knowing your price range for purchasing these I think you did very well.

@pan. thanks. I appreciate it. I will have to go through the tubes and see if there are any other key or semi-key dates. I searched each one as I got it, but honestly probably not as well as I should have.

AU details, harsh cleaning on obverse will limit its numismatic value.
