Only if they appeal to you.

Personally, I very much like the design and beauty of a Morgan, in the MS they were intended by George Morgan. Of course you're now limited by costs.

But by all means buy the best you can afford and depends on your intent for buying in the first place.

with the above, and I personally love a the whole series. I have a goodly number of them in all kinds of years. You can collect them any way you want to, personal to you.

Raiden...Morgans are great coins to collect but, they should be a choice for YOU to make. I have more fun with coins that I like and not because of any other reason.

If you do decide with Morgans, you've received some good advice here. The only thing that I have to add, only because I think it's a good place to start, is to do a lot of research on Morgans and then read about a specific year to learn as much as you can...then go after that date. An 1878 is a nice place to start and then you can work your way through the years.

Most of all, enjoy the Morgan hunt...it's invigorating for many of us!

Do you intend to start collecting them or just want to have one? If it's the latter, I might suggest getting a nice (cheap?) common raw one you can hold in your hand, feel the heft, spin it on your desk... I only have one myself.

I LOVE Morgan's. In 10 years I've accumulated about 400 Morgan's. Mostly mint state. In my short collecting span values have risen dramatically. Morgan's are THE American coin with no rival. They represent the lure of the old west. They are made from silver mined in the comstock lode. The variety in finish satin, proof like , deep mirror proof life, frosty etc.) keeps it interesting. Even good or better Morgan's are beautiful. Can't go wrong buying Morgan's. Imho

Morgan dollars, my favorite, are available in MS for very reasonable prices. Be Careful, you may become a Morgan hoarder :)

Have fun finding your first !

Many people like Morgan, but some are more sympathetic Walking Liberty, Peace dollars in other coins.
In any case, a couple of Morgans will not be superfluous in your collection .

I would not recommend buying such lots. You don't know what you'll end up with. It's a cat in a poke.

I would not buy from a seller that uses generic pics. The coin you get may have problems or could be a fake. Buy from sellers that show actual good pics of coin you are buying/bidding on and allows returns if you don't like it. If there is a local coin store near you check them out.

It depends if you just want a circulated Morgan in the $30 range or a collectable Morgan graded/slabbed by PCGS or NGC which will be more expensive.
