The Newman Numismatic Portal has reached the 5 Million Page mark - quite an achievement. Not 5 million page views but 5 million pages of information.

I also have been helping to contribute by scanning items in my own library to post and host which they don't have in their own collections. It continues to grow daily, a huge benefit for our hobby and all free of course thanks to the generous donations from his coin sales of Eric P. Newman. One of the greats in numismatics.

That's a great achievement and I've used it for their mint records quite a bit. One thing in the article caught my attention - 6.6% of their entire collection is Coin World. However, none of it is accessible due to copyright. I ran into a wall a few years ago while researching something. Even subscribers cannot access their archives. I joined ANA in order to get a copy of a Coin World article from the ANA library instead.

Yes the restricted list is a tough thing to stomach when you want or need something in the archives yet it's not available at all. Several items I've scanned are also on the restricted list - for now. I finished all the Charles Davis auction catalogs for them. and a few books on Colonial coins. I'm scanning a lot of my own library for myself as much as I give it to the NNP as well, if they don't have it already. Len Augsburger (Director) might be able to get a small bit released to you if it's a genuine research need, but they don't just open them up to anyone.

Eventually though I think most of the archive will be released to everyone. I too am eagerly awaiting the Coin World and Numismatic News archives myself. I have a complete set of Numismatic Scrapbook, but would love to have a scanned searchable version as opposed to having to search by memory and hand through decades worth of volumes when I need an article or old ad.
