Hi, I am going through my inheireted coin collection and recently and found this nickel. He more so collected change over the years and and had a ton of modern FV coins and so after picking out all the silver and older coins worth more than FV I took all the rest to coinstar and this one was rejected. I was wondering if it was a error coin. The closeups of the reverse it almost looks like it is an oversized planchet that got stamped over another nickel and encased it. The obverse looks like it is pushed down too much. Any input would be appreciated.
OMG, I am ROTF Yes, looking at Obverse really close at an angle I can see that the whole rim is not part of the nickel. How embariskin! Thanks everyone!
The loop on the bezel has broken off of the coin. This coin will be over 5 grams in weight. Not a die variety, but post strike alteration on this coin. Just a spender.
