Quote: yeah, that is what I thought. way back in 1980-something I bought these, thinking they were OGP. Now I have to rebuy the sets from 1953 to 1962.
I had a sinking feeling about these sets - that is why I took them out to have another look at them... Back then, I was in my late teens to early 20's and had no real place to research these out. The coins themselves look great, Maybe I can sell these off to fund getting the real ones. Are you collecting coins or the packaging? The coins are great as is. Screw the packaging. My 2¢

Quote: Are you collecting coins or the packaging? The coins are great as is. Screw the packaging Well 99% coins, 1% packaging. I have 2 collections going. 1. all coins in as best quality I can afford in Dansco albums, 2. a complete set of OGP mint sets of uncirculated and proof sets going back as far as I can afford to get. The sets in this topic were(are?) supposed to be part of my OGP collection.

I have these sets for 1958-63. Really nice coins, comparable to mint sets, as far as I can tell

I agree, these after market sets are great. The coins contained within look really good.

@Dearborn here is one that is less expensive from what looks like a reputable seller. Also just realized you have to be careful on these because I see people selling empty OGPs so there are likely people that make fake ones as it seems like it would be easy to do on these old sets. I am just pointing this out to you because I enjoy finding deals on proof and uncirculated sets, mostly on eBay. I'm not looking for a 1953 UNC set but wanted to point it out to you and NO I am not the seller! https://www.ebay.com/itm/394610587391

Thanks Coin, Al the information above is very helpful. (Yes, I'm aware of the pitfalls of buying these older sets, thanks)
