I had this coin gifted ages ago and a friend recently mentioned coin grading to me; he thought I could give it a go here and see what you guys think about it - is it worth trying to get this NCG/PCGS graded? Or would it be a waste of money given all the scratches?

Any feedback is highly appreciated :) Thanks in advance!

(I'm terrible at taking zoomed pictures - apologies!)

If they grade it at least you will know it's authentic. Gold is always good to have graded IMO.

Common date not in mint state grade would be just around bullion prices, not worth the money to get it grade.

It's probably an AU details piece so they would let you know it's genuine but not assign a numeric grade. It's bullion as noted above. Melt + a minimal premium. If it were mine there's no chance it would get submitted for grading. Good luck!

NCG is a basement slabber and thus would grade it MS68 or some other fantastical grade.
NGC and PCGS would likely call it AU or UNC details. Not worth getting graded.
