#2 looks like it's had something splashed on it that disturbs the luster. Otherwise it's a prettier coin overall. I'm also wondering what those two lines are on the reverse of #1 by the C of cent (2nd reverse pic) - some sort of odd die clash? Grades? Does surface cause #2 to details?

I'm no help here--I keep them both.

Forgot to mention that #1 is a Snow24 RPD, but it's such a minor repunch that's it's barely there. Lots of RPD's in 1900.

#1 has fewer distractions but, the color on #2 is nice. Decisions, decisions. OK...I'll commit to coin #2.

I thought the disturbance to the mint luster by whatever got splashed on #2 would be a big detraction, but apparently not. Any ideas on grades?

please only post 1 coin per thread. I'm not sure which photos are with which coin I'm assuming the first 4 are one coin and the last 4 are the second.
coin 1 - maybe AU58 (not a huge fan of it). something was splashed onto the coin and reacting with the copper at some point. good chance it would detail
coin 2 - looks like it was improperly stored and imo wont grade straight. best guess some chemical was used to clean the coin and it was stored away without properly rinsing it but it could have been anything. UNC details

Got you, panzaldi, but I wanted the comparison to be simple instead of going back and forth between two postings - usually just do a single coin. What I can't figure out about #2 is why someone would clean an uncirculated coin with mint luster. Just doesn't make sense to me. Neither coin has value that would justify TPG.

Keep both, then give one to a young collector.
