Repairing Loose Corners Of Albums

jk109e4 Valued Member United States 110 Posts	Posted 06/07/2023 6:47 pm Despite careful handling, I have a few corners of my albums that have come apart. Before they get worse or tear, I would like any suggestions of how to reglue the small glue strip that has separated. I was thinking some fabric glue sparingly applied by a rolling Q-Tip or other brush. Glue around coins is problematic. I also have Elmer's glue stick which is photo safe but who knows a safe procedure? Report this Post to the Staff

jbuck Moderator United States 128364 Posts	Posted 06/08/2023 10:22 am I believe it would be okay to use a glue that you cannot smell after it dries/cures. I would remove the pages from the binder and I would not return them until I was sure there was no out-gassing from the dried adhesive. That being said, the bookbinding tape is probably a safer approach, assuming the adhesive does not smell. Dearborn Bedrock of the Community United States 22360 Posts	Posted 06/08/2023 11:17 pm I had a corner of a page from one of my Dansco albums separate from the cardboard core. I just used a toothpick and wood glue - I put a very thin film of the glue on the cardboard, using the toothpick to get as close to the area where the cover is still attached to the core. I let it set for a few seconds then pressed the top down on to the core and placed a book over it for weight for several hours. Just go VERY sparingly with the glue and don't go beyond the area where the Mylar film slides in. Collecting since 1972. Learning from then on "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember.
