Strange Rim On 2000 Dime - Coin Community Forum

denny7000 Pillar of the Community Canada 938 Posts	Posted 06/17/2023 4:46 pm At first I thought I had found a rim clip on this 2000 dime but I'm not sure after looking closely at the obverse, the reverse is normal and the weight is normal at 2.08 grams. cointagous Pillar of the Community United States 1099 Posts	Posted 06/17/2023 6:39 pm A guess would be that it was struck multiple times causing the planchet to cup and the rims to raise up as additional metal moved upward. In a closed collar the metal has nowhere to go but up the rims. The correct weight rules out multiple planchets or a capped die(too much detail for that). Lets see what others think.
