...Recently found in neighbor's old 'change jar' ... coin in decent circulated condition ... Pretty good break through the date ... rim to rim ... anyone have any earlier stages of this damage? ...

Looks like a linear trail gas bubble to me.

... ... I usually blame my dog when that occurs ....
...Seriously, guys ... thanks for that info ... what you say makes sense, as the struck features seem to obliterate that part of the defect ... was the bubble created before the planchet being struck?...
