@New1954. Thanks for this. As of next year, I will be relying on you and others for the pre-notice of the monthly releases as my spend will not grant me the MC status I have had for years, This month's release is a prime example of why this is the case. There is absolutely nothing in this list that I care for. It baffles me that a year after QEII died and 4 months after KCIII was crowned, we still don't have any currency with KCIII... Not a quarter, not a dime... A couple of NCLT issues but it is commemorative, not a core obverse engraving. I will quietly continue to pick up SD's but my primary numismatic focus has always been world circulating "big" coins ... Crown sized et al. With my lack of focus & spend on RCM NCLT, this has allowed greater opportunity for growing my collection in other areas. With the current largest circulating coin from the RCM being the $2, at 28mm it doesn't really qualify as crown sized... (the old SD barely made the grade at 36mm) I guess outside of 1935-1967 dollars I am saying goodbye to collecting Canada as the NCLT is in the most part, overpriced, repetitive, lacking artistry, and undesirable outside of a small cohort (try to sell any modern NCLT). Very disappointed in the RCM.

My guess is that they are waiting at least until 2024 to come out with the KCIII effigy. Probably save themselves from having a year with two different effigies?

Thanks for the list! I couldn't find any of those coins online for October. Do you have pics? I'd love to see the Remembrance Day, owl, and ultra high relief SML :)

@vonigoher, I am with you. Another lackluster monhtly release with limited selection of coins and nothing that stands out. Has the R&D department budget been cut or are they asleep? It has been bad the last few years but this year is the worst when comes to innovation or new ideas or themes. Continuing in pumping out QEII coins when she has been dead for a year, putting out RCMP coins whcih no one wants or care about. More polar bear coins, more maple leafs, more eagles.
You can the see the effect on the secondary market. Only one coin this year, the St Edwards coin is selling for a premium above issue price. There is no buzz about NCLT coins. Try selling some of them and it takes forever or no buyers unless deep discount. Bring them to your LCS, they won't even look at them except for bullion value.
The question to everyone is, how are people managing to keep up with the MC status given the low output and uninspiring coins? I don't see how anyone can maintain their MC status unless they buy gold coins or multiple quantities of coins.

Yes, the RCM makes if difficult to be a regular buying. Some of the coins, although very beautiful, are looking more like chunks of jewelry. They continue to ask too high a silver premium for their anniversary coins.

The UFO coin looks interesting. But $140 is pricey. I will wait a bit for either deals or auctions.

The UFO coin is still available for issue price... Not much demand

Not much demand for anything the last few months. Cost of living having an impact?
I know the offerings haven't been the most desirable either.
Will the low demand cause the Mint to lower mintages for the ongoing series, or at least not raise them next year?
Do dealers have to order a certain percentage of a new release because of contracts with the Mint? Can't imagine they are too happy sitting on all the inventory.

Just wondering, those who ordered the Canada's Unexplained Phenomena, The Duncan Incident, from the RCM, did you receive MC points on it?

I've been told that to be an authorized dealer-partner, a minimum purchase agreement needs to be in place. This includes the ordering of coins that are not expected to be "leading sellers" - dealers can't just order the expected "hot" coins. This policy helps ensure that the Mint's full range of coins is available from its primary partners. I'm not a dealer, however, so my information is not from first-hand experience - it comes from conversations with those more closely connected.
