Hello everyone,

I have handled a few of these in Rome and 2/3 have been middle eastern or Lebanese gold replicas.

Any thoughts on this coin would be appreciated. Assuming weights and diameter are right.

Thank you all!

Looks authentic to me, but these aren't the best pics to be honest.

I know the pictures aren't great but usually there's a bit more interest in these posts... Anyone?

I also expected more comments here.

Unfortunately, gold, especially classic gold, is outside my comfort zone.

Assuming weight & diameter is correct, I don't see any issues with authenticity. I think its a fairly common date.. but not my expertise.

Weight, diameter, and gold content may not be enough to rule out a forgery. Close examination with a loupe and comparison to a genuine $5 Coronet would be needed.

The photos just aren't sharp enough to make a call on this one.

I see nothing blatantly wrong with it but agree that images are not sharp enough. My concern is apparent raised dots and small blobs on the raised devices like the hair, date, stars and denticles in your latest obverse image. Maybe it's just the image. I am not a gold person though.

Thanks everyone. I may go back this week and get better pics. Shops here run differently than in the u.s. ... I've detailed this in previous posts.

It could be glare and lack of focus but the date looks odd. The 1 appears too fat/wide and the 0 seems to have a much wider center gap than comparatives. Really hard to be sure with image quality.
