I'm a female.. I've been reading a while, decided to register. It seems there are a few of us here. Perhaps most women don't see coins as I do; I see tiny lil pieces of art. I can keep hundreds, perhaps thousands of works of art in a very small space. The GOLD helps a bit too, my precious.. LOL
Hi I'm new to this both site and collecting and really excited about the whole thing. I currently obsess(as my husband puts it) over pennies. I am working on finding as many 1982 pennies I can. 1982 is the year I was born and I'm going to put them on a table too. so if anyone has sites or reference pages I should bookmark please let me know them any help would be appreciated and thanks for allowing me to join I'm looking forward to the whole thing.
I think its great your taking your grand daughters along. My grandpa was always into coin collecting, which is the reason I also enjoy it probably. Otherwise, I probably never would have known it was a thing til was older because I don't remember anyone else that did it to learn about it. I think because its such a male dominant thing is probably why also, because most don't relate it to something to teach girls growing up. Even to this day, I can't say I have a single female friend thats also interested like myself. Or maybe its because most like diamonds instead& .. I hope your grand daughters find an interest in it! Even if they don't seem to now,it'll mean something later in life as memories with you.
There was a dealer at the coin show this weekend with what I have to assume was his granddaughter. I spent way too long looking through his items because I found myself listening to their conversation. She was asking questions, he was providing answers and showing her how he runs his business. It was quite impressive.
