Been scratching my head on this coin and don't know what to make of it. Is this normal to have the fields frosted? Frosting is an assumption on my part.

Looks like it (was) a proof coin that was decapsulated (well, you know what I mean).

It looks like the coin was lacquered. RCM did it to coins in Proof and Specimen sets. Now the lacquer has deteriorated creating the "frosty" fields.

Laquered coins? Okay. Didn't know that. Not even sure how the coin got into my book honestly. Could have been coin roll hunting.
