What is a good, affordable camera to use for coin photography? I've been using a Canon PowerShot A2500. It doesn't take great pictures, but they are acceptable, and the camera cost not much over $100, if I remember correctly. They don't sell this camera anymore, though.

Your post was moved to the appropriate forum for the proper attention. Assuming you have one, the camera in your phone can do a lot. http://goccf.com/t/422658

Thanks. I tried my camera on a large cent, but it was very blurry. I noticed Canon might have a camera that will work, but instead of being a little over $100, it now is around $350.

If you are not using a Mac, and have not upgraded to Windows 11, then the venerable Canon Rebel XS will work with your PC. You can pick one up used for under $100 these days. You'll need a lens as well. You can get more details on this in the "<$400" thread here: http://goccf.com/t/158182&whichpage=1These days, if you are talking just camera and lens, you can get out for probably under $150.

I might depend on how good you want your pics and what you will use them for. I use a cheap Fuji Finepix J40. Here is a picture I took recently. Not the best pictures on the forum, but good enough for what I need to post here. P.S. one of my goose neck lights has packed up. :(

Don't hand-hold your cell phone. Rest it on something solid - a stack of books will do (you remember books, right?). I've cut a block of wood on the table saw, anything solid. That will let you rest the phone far enough above the object to capture the entire coin. Under counter lights work well too, just back way far enough that the light is from the side.
Use the voice command to take the photo.

Popular options include the Canon Rebel series and the Nikon D3xxx series.
Look for lenses with a magnification ratio of 1:1 or higher. Popular options include Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 105mm f/2.8D.

I Use my phone for all my full coin images (Samsung-S23) and for the purposes of documenting my coins in an archive - it works out quite well. I also post them up on this forum as well. And I hand hold the phone for each image
