France 1815, 20 francs. Minted in London. This French 20 francs coin is minted in London, as seen from the mintmark 'R'. That was certainly not the regular way to mint French coins. The explanation is that this coin was minted for the king of France, Louis XVIII, when he escaped to Belgium (which was French at the time) during Napoleon's return to France after he had escaped from his exile on the island of Elba. While Napoleon sat in Paris, Louis made use of his good contacts in London (where he lived in exile for several years after escaping the French revolution) to mint French coins, to be used by Wellington's troups when they reached France. The coins were cut by an English engraver, using original French gold coins as a model.

British coins dated 1815 are even thinner on the ground but at least the Bank of England made some 1s 6d tokens:

France 1815, 5 francs. This one is also issued during Napoleon's return to France, the so called "100 days" - the time his return lasted, from March 1815 to his defeat at Waterloo in June. Napoleon's return was triumphant and enthusiastic mint officials ordered minting of new coins with Napoleon's portrait. They look like the original ones from his rule as emperor, but new dies had to be cut, the original dies had been destroyed.
