Canadian Vs German Planchet Toonie

I bought 2 Toonies from online that caught my eye.

I'm almost certain one of them is a German Planchet with its very clear vertical lines.

My question to you guys is do Canadian Planchet toonies also have vertical lines (albeit less prominent?) I'm debating whether the second toonie is a Canadian or German. I'm going to go with Canadian just because of how stark the difference is but it has vertical lines running through it too!

There is the premier toonie expert who infrequently comes to this forum. I posted your thread for him to look at, so he may or may not chime in. He conducts talks/discussions on everything toonie at some coin shows and displays at some of the larger shows.

IMHO the bottom coin looks like a German planchet. Are they dated 1996?
