Quote: I strongly suspect that NONE were actually released for circulation and ALL coins were distributed in rolls Still none in circulation yet. 15,000 rolls (all seem to be premium rolls ,H/T )? = 375,000 coins plus ram satchels = ? Got my dates wrong, American V Australian calendar on this site. Prospect Stamps and Coins have rolls @ $100 still, if you are keen.

Saw a vid today with the purple poppy listed as 2million mintage. Sounds fair enough but is this correct? Not listed on RAM website yet. No info on the RAM webpage about the circulating purple poppy I can find . Only 'C' Mintmark and Silver coin release date . No Cotton and Co rolls yet either.

Mintage for most 2 dollar coin coins are around the 2 million mark. Time will tell if the mintage differs.
As for the scarcity of finding them in circulation, I suspect it might come down to geographic location of where the coins were released. I found the firefighting and Vegemite coins difficult to find.

Maybe Cotton and Co couldn't secure enough $2 purple poppy coins to roll them as they were released in the bags of 5 from the RAM with small limits per person

If the only purple poppy you can get is from a RAM bag of 5 coins released at an ANDA show( no 25 coin bags seen yet) or a premium RAM roll( no non premium rolls yet) are they considered as 'circulated' coins?

I still haven't seen or heard of a purple poppy in circulation yet. Other than the half a dozen Firefighter coins I found a few weeks ago, I haven't seen many of those either. So, I have lashed-out and bought a roll of each of them for $100 each.
Come to think of it, I really don't see many of the colored $2 coins in circulation except for the "lollypop" ones issued through Woolworths etc (but not the Vegemite ones - they are as scarce as hen's teeth here).
I guess the coins issued through outlets other than retailers like Woolies, get snapped up by collectors and there are very few that actually make it to the banks and get distributed in circulation?

Great buys SallyG . It could turn out that the purple poppy has as low mintage as the red poppy? Sleeper coin ? Any Firefighters roll for $100 is a bargain.

Folks, the purple is out there. Picked up some purple poppy today from the coin machine... Surface finish is not the best.
