My denarius is not yet in hand, but knowing that I'm that much closer to completing my 12 Caesars (in silver denarii) set is satisfying. Only Caligula, Claudius and Otho to go!

Congratulations Finn! What a beautiful example. A little jealous - much better than mine. I too have those three to go.

I remember you had an Otho, did you get rid of it?

@travel coin: I think you mean Finn235 maybe. I've seen his handle come up in many ancient threads.

The auction was very active and competitive. The denarius set me back more than I would have liked, but I am happy with the purchase as it had mostly full legends and only had a couple of minor old scratches on the reverse.

I'd consider that a high grade specimen. Very strong portrait.

Congrats on getting a Vitellius! Neat double animal reverse and that portrait is fantastic!

- quite a high-grade example, and an excellent portrait! Even with those hits on the reverse tripod, it's a coin that most collectors can only dream of.

I've got a Galba (a lucky find in a Moscow coin fair) but no Otho or Vitellius, and my only Caligula and Claudius coins are bronze (and only provincial for the former). I think I have one or two others from the 12 but I don't quite recall which.
I've never really considered the full 12 set because Julius Caesar was always going to be pricey in any form. If I ever figure out how to get one of his coins I'll probably start more actively looking for the others.
