1939 D Jefferson Nickel Grade? Reverse Of 38?

Not sure if it's the reverse of 1938, but I'll guess AU or MS for the grade. Is the reverse weakly struck? If so, then it could be in MS condition.

Yes - this appears to be Rev of 1938. Steps look right, but I usually look at the serif atop the S in PLURIBUS. If there is a defined serif, it is Rev of '40. I don't see one on your coin but it can be hard to spot in photos.

Grade - I'm thinking mid-AU.

@Errers and Varietys, the coin appears to be well struck but the dies may be wearing out a bit

@Bump111, here is a closeup of the "S", I am not seeing a defined serif atop the S
