What would you grade this one?

I only see a couple marks on the coin. Obverse in the lower bust area and reverse rim. It hard to grade these as I would imagine it's a high grade satin finish coin.

MS 67 SMS is where I'm at

Ah, thanks for that info! I assumed this was a business strike. It's currently in encapsulation at PCGS, I'll update back here on the grade gotten.

That's extremely nice. I'm going to say 66+ and possibly a 67 if the rim nicks don't hold it back.

Nice example, looks to be a satin. Some of them have slipped through the TPGs as MS.

SP-68 (hopefully it pulls at least a 69 or it's a skunk)

Thanks for the Lincoln posts....back to the archive. This is my business strike example for reference. Notice the hair above the temple area, it's always flat there to varying degrees on 2006 business strikes. Also, the bottom of the bust near the rim is typically weak on the biz strike. The SP's have much better defined hair in that area.

@BadThad, came back SP68, I was hoping for SP69. I wish they gave details or even a few words on what keeps it down.

Typical PCGS, they are the masters of breaking hearts and producing frustration! As I told my other friend, enjoy the hobby in any way you can. A lot of guys (and girls) spend thousands on model rockets, old hot rods, etc. - this hobby is no different. I try not to beat myself up when the chips don't fall my way....it is just a hobby and you can't win 'em all!

Yeah, I definitely understand that. I'm technical by nature, so would love to know what goes through their minds when they grade 'em.

"This is my buddy Jim's coin. He showed it to me at the coin show last week and told me he was rushing it in. It's nice enough we'll bump it a grade for him."

and

"I don't know this submitter, I'll drop the grade by at least 1 point to keep the upper populations low."

That's exactly what I think happens too!
