My father was a big Wheat cent collector, he passed away in late 2020. I have since taken possession of his collection at my mothers asking. He had 4 albums of dancos albums mostly complete, my younger sister would like one as a kept sake which I'm 100% ok with she would not sell this album I'm sure of that. My question is do I have the better dates graded knowing that her children will most likely revive this album at some point my guess would be in about 20 to 30 years. There is no 09 s VDB in this album.I do know the rule of thumb of value of ( pending who you ask ) 100 to 150 in value.I should add her children have no knowledge of the value of the coins at this time.

To help my heirs dispose of my collection, in each of my albums I have a short written summary of the wholesale and retail value of the key and semi key coins. Also included is a general valuation of the non key dates and an estimate of the value of the whole album. I also have written value info for each of my third party graded coins. I update the value info approximately yearly. I also have info on how the values can be updated in the future if needed. Also included are some suggestions on how to sell parts or all of the collection. Just enough info to help my wife or daughters dispose of my small collection if they want to.

Personally, unless they are very poor examples, I would send the 09 S, 14 D, and 31 S in to be graded. I'm not a big believer in slabbing coins unless they are decent examples of key dates, and these three are certainly key dates. Myself, I wouldn't hesitate to send them in, provided they are not damaged.

I wouldn't worry about the 31 S unless its Mint State, but I would do the 14D and 1909 S if they are in good condition. I have both a raw and a slabbed of these.

Unless they are very high grade examples, it wouldn't be worth the expense to slab any of the coins. It's best if you post pictures of each one so we can see them.

None of these coins are in high grade between fine and very fine at best. My biggest problem or thought is 20 or 30 years from now these coins falling in to hands that have no idea of value. With them graded it's a better chance of not being taken advantage of.

If you are not worried about the $$ cost of grading your coins, then by all means have it done. It will be expensive and likely will not add any value to your coins, as you've described them here, F to VF condition. It will however, preserve/protect them for future generations.

Without knowing the condition of the coins it's a toss-up wether to have graded or not.

Based on the grade assessment that can a cross the board yesterday on these 3 coins (which I agree with)it would be foolish for me to have these coins graded. Thanks to all for your great input it is appreciated.

It's a good thing you asked. GREAT job on the pictures!! You still have a nice collection even if the coins are not perfect.
