Slider - AU/MS up for grabs - ever so minor wear. Does not look cleaned to me.
I swing a metal detector and have a knack for finding dirty old coins.

Nice AU nickel!

The fields under the buffalo don't have quite the same patina as the rest of the coin, and that concerns me as well regarding a possible cleaning.

That said...it could just be the lighting used to photograph the coin. Take it over to a window and look at it again illuminated with natural sunlight; evidence of cleaning should pop right out at you.

Your coin has matching EMDS dies, a strong strike that is typical for 1916 Philadelphia, and average die polishing. The lighting makes it hard to tell if there has been a cleaning. I don't see any significant disruption of the surfaces on the devices. There is circulation wear, but not excessive. I see quite a bit of luster remaining. Overall, this looks like a solid AU-55 coin. Nice one!

the lighting makes it difficult to determine a cleaning. can't tell if luster is there or if its reflection from the light. I have it at AU53 or 55. I'm leaning 55
