The star privy seemed to be falling into the hands of the average collector like us in mid to late October 2024. Possibly some of these gamers for them a little sooner. Places taking preorders now, so looking at about maybe the 6 month mark since the last one. It seems that I may have heard about a flag privy as well, not sure who it was and if it was simple speculation. If it stays popular with Nice Gang or Eight Era, I would wonder how long the mint would agree to do this. Myself I'd hope the Mint would keep some sort of respectability in regards to what privy mark they would agree to do. Something fitting, not something like a commercial trademark (nice gang logo, etc). I don't mind a few extra issues. I agree with what was stated before, with the 3 extra proofs this year it's a bit much.

The privys will be interesting to see how the market reacts. The star privy from last year shouldnt add much value to the coin EXCEPT for the Eighth Era Slab MS70 ones with original packaging as those were only given out to the game users, AND Yes, I did download the game to purchase that coin for $80. I did also buy a MS69 for like $65. Those are up to 300-500 depending on buyer. I am excited for the Eagle privy as its the same eagle as the reverse of the 2000 Sacagawea!
I would however wish for more rarities or an enhanced proof/reverse proof set. kinda boring only having 3 (more like 2) bullion, burnished, proof (to me, the burnished is too close to the bullion to be given its own category, which is also why I don't buy burnished)

Many sellers have these listed on ebay as pre-sales for 04-30 ship date You can get an MS-70 for about $80, that doesn't seem like much of a premium for the privy mark

I've read and heard there are a couple items you aren't likely to see the Mint try to do again anytime soon, those are the Enhanced Uncirculated finish and edge lettering. Very labor intensive and hard to get it just right. Lots of rejects. Anyone is free to collect what they wish. I don't mind collecting the Uncirculated aka burnished ASEs. It's just not that much extra to collect and I like the looks a little better than the bullion, and they were meant for the collectors market. Sometimes I even wish there were more than one S mint mark Uncirculated, and there's never been a Philly. I look at my case of proof ASEs and then compare it to my Uncirculated case and it's just tiny. I stash other things in with the Uncirculated because there's so much extra room, for example my modern Morgans and Peace dollars. My ASE proof case is almost full and wondering if I add it to the Uncirculated case or start a new one. I do have a number of sets that contain the Uncirculated, mainly from when they did the annual Uncirculated dollar sets. Those are fun to have and not terribly expensive, either. Many times the ones I have I bought for little more than the value of the ASE plus face value of the Presidential dollars. For the years they didn't produce the Uncirculated ASEs,I bought the Uncirculated Presidential dollar sets for those years, so I can say I have the entire Presidential dollars series in Uncirculated finish. Those were dirt cheap.

So why isn't there any info about this on the US MInt web site?

That's really a good question that it would be nice to have an answer to. There also is no image on the Army/Navy/Marines proof eagles yet, either. The Mint just seems like it can pull this sort of crap. IDK if it's to build up anticipation or they really haven't finalized designs. As far as the privy ASE, I went back to the mint website to look at what was done last year when the star privy came out. There never was an actual press release. The is one page online talking about it. Mostly common bullion information and it talks about eighth era and what they have as far as winning the ASE. Also the montage and got collectors can get it through the normal bullion purchasers. So there really is a large disconnect between the mint and collectors, this is nothing new or surprising, but definitely irritating

It might be because they are not sure what Mint facilities will be available to mint them.

Lowest mintage for Bullion ASE (not including the emergency issue as their is no way to identify them outside the slab). Easy to get the star privy at a premium and the ones that hold value are the MS70 WITH the 8th Era logo WITH the packaging. Those were from the game itself compared of thru bullion sellers. The 8th Era ones with packaging are actually worth quite a bit for that coin but as people say, buy the coin and not the label.

I signed into my Eighth Era and got the prompt to sign up for the release of the ASE Eagle Privy. Have not received the email yet.

I think these privy marked ASEs are to coin collecting what the C8 was to Corvette The introduction of the mid-engine concept was distasteful to many hard core Corvette enthusiasts but it helped attract a new type of buyer These privy marks and their association with gaming companies seem like a way to attract people that wouldn't otherwise collect coins Gamers are a large sector prone to addictive behavior and it could rapidly expand the coin collection universe However, the problem with the rapid expansion of any hobby is that people exploit uneducated people The Star privy is a good example From what I read, they sold for a lot more than their current market value when they were first introduced I attribute this to FOMO This new Eagle privy seems to be getting the same attention, people are paying very exorbitant pre-sale prices to get one I got booted of an ASE Facebook group I was going to post a topic asking why everyone was in such a hurry to get one when they would be a lot cheaper in a couple months I guess the sellers that run the group didn't want people questioning their pre-sale prices I have a bad feeling that these privy marks are going to catch on in the short term which will be good for US Mint sales But in the long term it may devalue the linage making bad for collectors and resellers The mint has a DC license and I would not be surprised if they do DC inspired privy marks in the years to come

So I got my order form in and this might be harder to get the 8th Era slabs as they allow you to order up to like 20 MS70 and 90 MS69 per household... Unlike the star privy, it was 1 per person.
