Will U.S. buyers in overseas auctions now have to pay an additional toll on their coins when importing them into the USA?

What about European residents bidding in U.S. auctions?

Any thoughts?

This is pretty much what I mean, although it is more about fine art than about coins:

https://www.artnews.com/art-news/ne...-1234737714/

But I'm pretty sure that coin auctions will be treated much the same as art auctions.

In Canada we don't care , sanity prevails .
No change for us buying in Overseas auctions .
US auctions right now , who knows or cares .
I will add US Coin Shows and US coin auctions to my boycott
list, right there with groceries and other US products.

You embraced polymer notes, dollar+ coins, and got rid of the cent. It should be no question that Canadians are quite sane.

Well for last mile delivery through USPS, there's going to be a fee you will need to pay in addition to the tariff before your package is released for delivery.

There is what appears to be a reasonable Reddit post but it's in the sub for that company that shall not be named. A search for "USPS Attempts to Prepare for De Minimis Revocation With $8.85 Service Fee on Each Inbound Package" will find it.

But anyway, if you want the thumbnail...

Reference this https://pe.usps.com/text/imm/immc7_002.htm which just says the USPS will collect a fee for handling dutiable packages. That ultimately leads to this:

and

Quote:
712.12 Collecting Postal Service Fee for Each Package
The Postal Service collects the fee on each package bearing CBP Form 3419ALT. When a single mail entry form covers several packages, the Postal Service collects the fee only on the package bearing CBP Form 3419ALT. The CBP Form 3419ALT is enclosed in an orange adhesive-backed Treasury Department envelope attached to the outside wrapper or envelope. The form indicates the tariff item number, rate of duty, and amount of duty to be collected plus a customs processing fee, which is assessed on all dutiable mail shipments.

For giggles, now read this and estimate the workload of a few dozen packages per carrier per day

It's going to be a Goat Rodeo!

@BStrauss3: Thanks for the info!

Does anyone know about FedEx / DHL / etc.? A lot of auction houses are shipping coins that way nowadays.

Go to Spink.com.
Excellent update from Oliver Stocker on
the unbelievable Tariff mess and how it affects
ALL collectibles coming to the US .
Will not post a link but anyone can find it .
It does get a bit political is the reason .
Never in 45 years of dealing would I have said
that it would be an advantage to have a Canadian
address in this business. , yet here we are .
What an absolute uproar in the world of trade!

Everybody is going to have to handle clearances. They already do for some packages - a common complaint is that *** charges a $25 fee for acting as the customs broker.

Just saw this over on the sixbid.com website:

https://new.coinsweekly.com/news-en...riff-policy/

This was written from a European perspective. Raises almost as many questions as it clears up, though.

The latest development could also have a chilling effect on U.S. buyers at foreign auction venues:
