Without full images of both sides of your coin, it's difficult to state with certainty what is going on with it. But from the snippets you've posted, I suspect that a hammer was involved. It could be something else, so please post complete pictures of your coin.

ERRERS and VARIETYS was spot on. Thankful and humbled for quick analysis. Put my self esteem in check as it explained the "photo negative" stamping. Scotland Yard candidate I am not, but admire this site and forum. Thank you
