Well, that's not fun. I was hoping someone with some expertise could tell me what degree of rotation this could be.

It looks to be rotated 15 degrees.

Quote: Well, that's not fun. But it's supposed to be.... If you do not enjoy learning and figuring out things on your own, maybe this is not for you. Give it a chance and try. When you go to the site, scroll down, you will see "measuring coins", click on that and you will see a "Roto Flip", this was made by Leroy Van Allen, One of the two that started VAMWorld. You should be able to tell fairly close to what you have with this. Just take the first step in someone not telling you what it is and try to do it yourself.

OK using that diagram on retro flip it is sitting at a 20° counterclockwise. That is from what I can tell.

Thank you for all the information.. all in all it's a pretty cool coin. I was excited to pick it up. The lady at NGC said it was $775 value at the mint state it is in.

Quote:Is that a VAM possibility All Morgan dollars should have a corresponding VAM variety, so yes, your coin should be able to match a die variety according to vamworld.com. It is still very possible new vams are still out there, but I doubt that is the case with your coin. FYI: VAM equals Van-Allen and Mathis two early varieties specialists.
