Anyone care to comment on the color / toning on the reverse of this coin? Has it been seen before? The obverse is a more normal bronze or gold tone.

Not exactly rocket science, but it probably means the coin spent a long period of time with the two surfaces experiencing two different environments. The lighter colored side might have been against another coin, and this side exposed to the environment, or to a piece of paper.
