I have this 1945 .50 cent piece and would like to know if you think it is a double 5 and also has a die crack. never seen one like this before.

Die cracks are fairly common on the hoof, must be a weak spot.
I would say that you have Round Back 9 Straight 4 Wide Date Pointed 5/5 touching ring.
As far as I know there is only one variety where the 5 touches the ring so that is a good find.
