Hi all. What would be the best explanation of this coin weighing in at 1.21g. PMD or Split Planchet or other?

Need to see the edge.
On a split planchet usually one side of the coin will be distorted, given your example here it maybe the result of an Acid dipped coin.
The blank area below the OF AMERICA is most likely where the coin was held with a tweezers when it was dipped.

Yes, end-on photo of the edge/rim would be helpful. Thanks.

I am leaning towards that, but would still like to see the edge.

Narrowing of letters like this is characteristic of a coin that's been on a bad acid trip. Here's one that I found:

Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Definitly acid damage. The rims are the first to be etched away and are missing.
Also the thinning letters. Both are signs of an acid etched coin.
Considered damage with no extra value.

Looks like someone used a punch to reduce the diameter to match a dime so you could use it in a vending machine. I have a couple in my collection. Regards to all.
