kind of looks like the start of a washer or dryer damaged coin - coins left in clothing and washed

Abraded reverse, yes. Not common, but we do see similar abrasion on cents, nickels, dimes, etc. a few times every month here.

first off you are comparing your Denver coin to a Philadelphia coin - so there should be no relation to either coin, other than they are both damaged coins. each were sanded down.
