Unless it's CAC, the PCGS price guide is often higher than the actual/eventual sale price. This particular coin may be an exception, but grain of salt.

I'm a bit confused here. I thought SMSs (Special Mint Sets) were only made in 1965, 1966 and 1967. Anybody?

There were a few (VERY FEW) 1964 SMS Sets, but all of them were held by the Mint director (I forget her name) but a few of them were handed out to some special people (don't know who) one or some of them have broken out the sets and sold them at auction.

I'm not sure it will go for much more than the $30,000 bid - alot of uncertainty with these 64 SMS coins - nobody knows how many were minted and they don't even know if they were minted in 64!

Thanks Dearborn and Marve65 for the info about the 1964 SMS. A numismatic mystery of which I was unaware.
