Mojojojo Valued Member United States 226 Posts	Posted 05/05/2025 12:23 pm What are some ideas for ASEs that you would have liked to see the Mint release that never happened? For Example: In 2016 I would have liked to see the Mint release a better product to celebrate the 30th Anniversary, maybe at least a special case with both the Uncirculated and Proof Edge Lettered ASEs. commems CCF Master Historian of USA Commemoratives United States 11352 Posts	Posted 05/05/2025 3:47 pm Had the Mint been adding commemorative Privy Marks to ASEs back in 2002, it would have been nice to have a Silver Eagle mark the 225th Anniversary of the adoption of the US Flag (Continental Congress, 1777). The year's two commemorative coin slots were occupied by the West Point Bicentennial and the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games programs, so an alternative would have been needed to honor the ol' "Stars and Stripes." Gilly Pillar of the Community United States 635 Posts	Posted 05/07/2025 09:42 am I don't really know of any opportunities really "missed". It's strange to me that they even did the lettered edge for the 30th. It's kind of odd to me that they chose to even recognize 30 years at all. For the 25th,I suppose that was an appropriate salute. Just the 2 special coins. For honoring other special events, as mentioned, I don't think it's up to the mint to use the ASE to recognize these events, that's what medals are for. I have a maple leaf that I think is an anniversary where they have the number quite large across the design. I don't really think it "played" all that well, but the RCM will go out on a limb like that once in awhile, where the usm is always pretty conservative. But the usm has I think blundered on a few occasions. IDK how I feel about the bullion privy marks just yet. I guess "it's not hurting anything", but does seem to cheapen the program,I guess is how I'll state it. I'll just leave it at that for now Report this Post to the Staff
