Spotted this nickel while browsing error coins on ebay. Something just seems off to me about this large curved clip. There is no Smith effect at the rim edges, they look completely square to the clip. Also, I do not see evidence of metal flow at the clip edge. With so much material missing, it seems like the strike pressure should have caused a lot of flow and deformation along the inner edge. No Blakesley effect, although I understand that is not unusual for large clips.
I know it's certified by ANACS, but I am just curious what the mint error pros on CCF think about the coin. I have a decent grasp of minor clips, but it would be fun to learn about larger clipped planchet coins.
