Hello everyone
I would like to clarify the doubt about the change in color that this coin has undergone. What happened to make it reach these blue and greenish tones and does it devalue the coin?
Note
These color variations are the same coin, they are just in different types of lighting angles,
using the same light source
About the DD, if the scratch marks that appear on the letters could be duplication?
Thank you

Toning can happen for many reasons. It could be from the environment it was in or being in sunlight for a long time. It depends on many different environmental factors. As far as seeing a Doubled Die on your coin, I am only seeing circulation wear and flattening.

I agree with Errers and Varieties. Your coin is showing toning from environmental factors.
Over 1.5 billion 1971 New Pence were minted, so there is very little numismatic premium associated with one unless it is in mint state.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

So is it normal for New Penny coins to have this type of color effect?

Since I am from Brazil, I have no contact with British coins, so I have few references to base myself on.

It has become one of my favorite coins in my collection, as I said, I am Brazilian and most of them are national, I only have this British one among the foreign ones.

Just out of curiosity, the reverse also presents this effect.

Yes. It's quite normal. Some people like it. Others don't. The technical name for the process is "toning".

Thank you all for your answers. I didn't know about this toning issue. I saw that there is the question of natural or artificial toning. I inherited this coin collection from my father. It had been kept in a cloth bag for at least 30 years along with other coins that are in the photo. Since I know that you can't clean coins, the most I can do is use a dry, soft cloth to remove grease from your fingers.

Now, does this fact qualify as natural or artificial toning?

While rummaging through my collection I found this other Portuguese coin that is showing the same effect, but it was stored in another place and condition.

Although these coins have been circulated....remember please...no rubbing with a clean cloth to remove grease or finger prints. One should only use 100% Acetone and bathe the coin, rinse with clean running water than pat dry or another bath in virgin Acetone, then let air dry.

The toning is normal and appeals to many people. I find these examples attractive.
