Looks nice I'll guess VF30 and 5 points either side of that would not surprise.

Quote: I am missing one date in the Morgan series to complete my date set [1895 still needed] You certainly picked a challenging 1893 example for your date set. Are you considering the 1895 Philly Proof coin to complete the set?
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.artToo many hobbies .... too much work .... not enough time.

I am considering it but it depends on what coin is available at the right time and at the right price. Have been looking at proof 95s for a long time and will likely continue looking even if the date set is complete without it.

That's a nice 1893-S! Add me to the VF-35 group.

I'll say EF-40. These tend to be weakly struck.

This is NGC's grade. I think the coin will look darker in hand as the pictures look flooded in light. Coin was initially offered for $7k and was thinking about it when they dropped the price by $400. Then I found a coupon online that knocked the price down another $10 so I pulled the trigger. Not in hand yet. Hopefully it looks as good in hand. Thank you for your kind comments and let me know if you have further thoughts.

This is.a second set of pictures that I was able to extract from the NGC page for this cert. Not as clear as the seller's pics and not as brightly lit. The reverse looks similar but the obverse is where the toning may be more pronounced decreasing the eye appeal.
